Getting started
Touch & tablet
One workspace at every width. A narrow window presents panels differently; it never gives you a different app.
One layout, presented two ways
The rails are the spine at every screen size. Width only changes how a panel is presented: docked resizable columns when there is room, floating one at a time when there is not. The app menu, undo and redo, export, settings, Library, Media, Layers, Plugins, the inspector tabs and Keyframes / Curves / Nodes are all reachable on a phone.
Modifiers without a keyboard
Most precision gestures in AtomCut are gated behind a modifier, and those could only ever come from a keyboard. Modifiers are a property of the app rather than of the event, with an on-screen puck as a second source — so every gesture below works by holding the puck instead.
- ⇧ constrains to an axis, and puts a slider or knob into fine mode.
- ⌥ duplicates as you drag, and switches the cross-axis zoom.
- ⌘ adds to a selection.
- ⌃ bypasses snapping.
Two-finger gestures
Pinch to zoom and two-finger drag to pan work on the canvas and the timeline. On the timeline, a two-finger drag scrolls; hold the⌥ puck to zoom the track height instead of the time axis.
Pen and pressure
A stylus reports pressure and tilt directly to the brush engine — see Drawing & brush for the response curves each preset exposes.
