Auto layout
Select a set of layers you've already arranged and press ⇧A. AtomCut reads the row, column or grid you already made and turns it into a live rule, instead of asking you to describe one from scratch.
Read, not authored
Side by side becomes a row, stacked becomes a column, and the gap is inferred from the mean space between neighbours. Members are re-seated in their spatial order first, so turning the layout on never moves anything the instant it lands — the rule starts out matching what you built by eye.
The box
Select a text label sitting on top of a rectangle and press ⇧A: the rectangle becomes the layout’s own box — its fill, stroke and corner radius move onto the group itself — the text becomes its centred member, and the original rectangle is gone, folded into the group it created. A hugging box grows the way a real chip or card does as you type into the text it holds.
Reorder by drag
Drag a member and drop it between two others to reorder the layout; the rest re-flow to make room, live, as you drag.
Every knob keyframes
Gap, padding, alignment and per-member fill or hug sizing are ordinary animatable properties, keyed through the same keyframe engine as anything else — a layout can widen its gap over time exactly like a shape can change colour over time.
Turning it off
Press ⇧A again on a laid-out group to remove the layout — it bakes the resolved positions into the members first, so nothing jumps when the rule stops applying. Layouts nest: a laid-out group can sit as a member inside another one.
Auto layout places a group’s members the same live way text on a path places glyphs on a curve — both read a live source instead of a copy taken once.
